CoreValue – Up Close and Personal

Meet Olena Byelkina, a speaker and a business trainer

Motto in life: Suum cuique (To each his own)

Job title: QA Engineer, CoreValue Lviv

Q:  What is it in your job that you like the most?

A:  I like the way my job allows me to make the world better (that’s in a very-very general sense). I’m that kind of person who cannot stand aside and simply observe something going unnecessarily wrong when it can be stopped.  I prefer a preventive approach rather than fixing something after it becomes a problem.  Being a QA professional matches my way of thinking and living.

Q:  Do you have any hobbies?

A:  I sure do, but Irish dancing is the one I’ve been dedicating almost every day of my life since 2012.

It all started as an attempt to find out how to do it in a proper way. Initially, there were Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations in Lviv though they spun around Irish folk music without having anything else Irish at all.

Right now with more than 4 years of modern Irish dancing experience, a teacher’s role in the Lviv branch of one of the oldest schools in Ukraine, I also handle the only Ukrainian blog dedicated to Irish dancing history and organization of one out of three national championships in our country. Everything turned out to be much deeper, broader and less ‘riverdance’ comparing to how it met my eye in 2012.

Q:  What is your core value?

A:  Selfhood is a core value for me. Being myself as well as recognizing and respecting “selfhood” for every other person is the basis of how I live, how I treat other people, and how I expect them to treat me.
